VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

The First UM Church of Avalon is the site of an awesome Vacation Bible School every Summer. Each day from 9:00 a.m. to Noon children age 3 and up gather for Bible stories, crafts, snacks, outdoor activities, and music. Our VBS is offered free, and is one of the highlights of every summer.

ADULT EDUCTION AND GROUPS:

Short Term Topical Groups: Informal discussion groups meet for fellowship and discussion. Events of the day, parenting, social issues, and a range of other topics are discussed from a Christian perspective.

Summer Bible Study: During the Summer, many adults gather on Wednesday mornings to spend time growing Spiritually through God's Word. Come and be a part of this interesting study that includes coffee, fellowship, prayer, and discussion.

Advent & Lent: Many opportunities are offered for study and increased devotion during these holy seasons of the Church year.

Visually Impaired Persons Support Group: A support group for people who are visually impaired meets in the church on Tuesdays and Thursdays, each week. United Methodist Women: The UMW is an important part of the church. They meet in private homes on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. The group shares good times, supports the work of the church, makes contributions to charitable causes, provides help for those in need, spends time in prayer and study, and has some of the best snacks available in Avalon. Church Choirs: If you enjoy music and would like to sing or ring bells, come out and be part of our bell choir and/or our chancel choir. You don't need to know how to read music. Just come prepared to sing God's praise. Our choirs share their musical gifts during worship all year around. Rehearsals: Thursday Nights, Bell Choir: 6:00 p.m., Chancel Choir: 7:30 p.m.
